June 21: Continuing its drive against drug peddlers and its propagators, Police Party of Police Station Udhampur apprehended three drug peddlers alongwith poppy straw and cash of ₹ 1,59,500/-.

Police team of PS Udhampur led by Insp. Chaman Gorka SHO PS Udhampur under the supervision of Sh. Anwaar-ul-Haq Addl.SP Udhampur and Sh. Sahil Mahajan DySP Hqrs. Udhampur laid a naka at Jakhani naka Point, NHW for checking of vehicles.

During naka checking, police party intercepted one suspicious vehicle (truck) bearing registration number JK16/0798 going thorough checkimg.

During search of said vehicle, 30 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered by the police party.

The accused driver namely *Rayaz Ahmed Malik S/O Gulam mohi Din R/O village Hangar Yaripora Kulgam and Muddassir Ahmed S/o Mohd. Rafiq Bhat R/O Laram Gangipora Ananatnaag Srinagar* were arrested on spot.

On the further disclosure of the accused persons, police party arrested one more person namely *Ajay Sharama @ Baju S/O Krishan Lal R/O Manthal Tehsil Tikri Udhampur* alongwith cash of ₹ 159000/- who was going to get the delivery of this consignment and is also involved in the illegal business of poppy straw.

The involved vehicle (truck) used for smuggling has also been seized.

Regarding this incident, A Case FIR NO. 224/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
