June 05:``Acting tough against the elements involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police have seized 02 vehicles in Handwara.

A police party of Police Station Handwara alongwith officials from Geology and Mining Department have seized two vehicles (1 JCB, 1 tipper) for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Maratgam and Bangas area.

Accordingly, legal action under the provisions of MMDR (Mines & Minerals Development and Regulation) Act has been registered in this regard and investigation has been initiated.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.```
