June 21: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Awantipora have arrested one drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A Police Party of Police Post Reshipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Shri Mumtaz Ali Bhatti-JKPS at a checkpoint established near Braw Bandina intercepted one person identified as Sajad Ahmad Pala resident of Braw Bandina. During search, 1kg & 700 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 135/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddler in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.```
