March 01:`Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances and cash from their possession.

A police party of PS Pampore at a checkpoint established at Gallander Crossing arrested a drug peddler identified as Tariq Ahmad Ganie son of Ab Ganie resident of Lolipora Pulwama. During search, 22 Kgs of Poppy Straw & Cash ₹31,000 (proceeds of narcotics crime) was recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Similarly in Shopian, a police party of Police Station Bomai at a checkpoint established at Zindri Crossing arrested two drug peddlers identified as Tanveer Ahmad Shah son of Mushtaq Ahmad resident of Tulibal Seer Jagir Sopore and Javaid Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Muhammad resident of Baagh e Rehmat Iqbal Nagar Sopore. During search, 3512 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus were recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly under law.```
