Jammu,15: Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drugs from the society and tightening noose against drug peddlers under operation *SANJEEVENI*,Akhnoor Police arrested 01 drug peddler and recovered 4.04 gms heroin (chitta) like substance from him.

On 15/04/2024, a police party of Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Akhnoor Tariq Ahmed under supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Sh.Mohan Sharma-JKPS established a naka near Old bridge for vehicle checking.
During checking a pedestrian who was on his way from Bamberwan towards old bridge diverted his direction on seeing the police party and tried to escape but the police team apprehended him.

During his search 4.04 grms of Heroin (chitta) like Psychotropic Substance was recovered from the possesion of the pedestrian namely *Vishal Kumar @ Shallu S/O Kali Ram R/O Bomal Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu.*

In this regard, a case FIR No. 63/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Akhnoor. Further Investigation of the case is going on.

People have applauded the efforts of Jammu Police in acting tough against the drug peddlers.
Jammu Police enjoined upon all citizens of Jammu to be aware of drug menace and report any incident to Jammu Police. The identity of the person informing regarding this menace will not be disclosed to anyone.
