April 16:Acting tough against the social crimes, police have arrested a bootlegger in Sopore and recovered illicit liquor from his possession.

A police party of Police Post Fruit Mandi headed by IC PP Fruit Mandi under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS and SHO PS Sopore at a checkpoint established at Mazbugh intercepted a two-wheeler (LML Bajaj Vispa) bearing registration number JK05-1255 ridden by one person. During search, 25 bottles of illicit liquor (Old Adventure 15 Bottles 750ml and Black Bull 10 Bottles 750ml) were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Sohan Lal son of Desh Raj resident of Mohalla Arjunpora Gurdaspur Punjab. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

In this connection, a case under relevant sections of Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore & investigation has been initiated.

Police urges the common masses to give information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112. General Public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
