May 07: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Sopore has arrested a drug peddler at a checkpoint and seized contraband substance from his possession.

One person identified as Mohammad Shafi Lone son of Abdul Rashid Lone resident of Nadihal Rafiabad arrested for the drug supply offences has been taken to Police Station Sopore where he remains in custody.

Officers at the checkpoint have seized 3000 Spasmoproxyvan capsules from his possession. Besides a motorcycle bearing registration number JK05F-3674 was also seized.

Moreover, Police is looking for two of his accomplices identified as Arshid Farooq Lone son of Farooq Ahmad Lone resident of Saidpora Rafiabad & Muzaffar Ahmad Shah @Nund Shah, a notorious drug peddler son of Mohammad Sultan Shah resident of Adipora Sopore who fled from the checkpoint.

Case FIR No 112/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
